Presentation Skills

A practical grounding in the elements that comprise best practice, imparting a thorough working knowledge of presentation skills.
  • How appropriate preparation can maximise impact and confidence.
  • How to brainstorm the core message, bearing in mind the expectations of the listeners.
  • How to organise and condense the key questions and make them easy to follow.
Participants will learn how to deliver a presentation that optimises the use of :
  • Vocal variety, physical movement and gesture
  • Eye contact
  • Visual aids
We will work on material provided by the participants, identifying individual strengths and areas for improvement. Each participant will deliver at least four different mini-presentations.

Pre-Course

Participants will be asked to visit our site and explore the site.

Participants will be asked to prepare a presentation lasting up to five minutes, preferably based on their work. They will be asked to e-mail any Powerpoint slides to john.turner@howdoyoudopresentations.com so that we can incorporate them into the course.

Course
  • Simple, practical exercises to understand how a presentation should be structured.
  • How to develop the message, the over-view and sub-sections.
  • How to guide the listeners so that information is easily assimilated.
  • Where to place the most important information within a presentation.
  • The setting of the agenda, of signposts, the use of recap, and “call to action”.
Post-Course

A 45 minute follow-up consultation will take place with each participant on a one-to-one basis, to ensure that the general principles have been taken on board, and that any issues specific to each individual are being addressed.

Perfecting The Pitch

Collaboration on the structure and style of a company presentation or pitch.

Individual One-to-One sessions to improve techniques.

Attendance and feedback to the team during and after “run-through” sessions.

Personal Impact

One-to-one coaching. Participants will acquire tools to find new ways to develop their personal presence and effectiveness as communicators, both in meetings and during presentations.
